Stage of Plastic Dreams
A Question of Taste Opening Party

Online Party

March 12, 2021 / 20:00

Pera Museum presents virtual event series “Stage of Plastic Dreams” in collaboration with HYPERCORTEX and with the support of the British Council. Organized in parallel to the A Question of Taste exhibition, the “Stage of Plastic Dreams” event series brings musicians and visual artists together in a virtual event space open to participants.

The Opening Party for A Question of Taste exhibition on March 12 will host a set by iz (Elif Koçak) with tunes bordering on electronic music, enriched by subgenera and embellished with experimental selections; as well as by a performance by AVgen (Lal Avgen) created with shapes and colors, bringing together a visual, sound-sensitive world based on codes and videos. Then Çiçek Çocuk and Kübra Uzun will take the stage to perform “Our Crystal Spectacles”, an electronic blend of cult Broadway classics with queer narratives of the past and Çiçek Çocuk’s own songs.

Temporary Exhibition

A Question of Taste

A Question of Taste was a group exhibition that deals with kitsch, a concept whose meaning has shifted since the 19th century, and the intimate relationship this concept has established with today's visual culture as well as its critical role in shaping taste.

Louis Isadore Kahn (1901-1974)

Louis Isadore Kahn was born in 1901 to a Jewish family in Pärnu, Russia (today Estonia), far from Philadelphia where he spent his whole life, worked, fell in love, and breathed his last. Kahn family emigrated to America when he was five years old.

Good News from the Skies

Good News from the Skies

Inspired by the exhibition And Now the Good News, which focusing on the relationship between mass media and art, we prepared horoscope readings based on the chapters of the exhibition. Using the popular astrological language inspired by the effects of the movements of celestial bodies on people, these readings with references to the works in the exhibition make fictional future predictions inspired by the horoscope columns that we read in the newspapers with the desire to receive good news about our day.

Moscow Conceptualists

Our institutions have been stuck on linear Neo-Platonic tracks for 24 centuries. These antiquated processes of deduction have lost their authority. Just like art it has fallen off its pedestal. Legal, educational and constitutional systems rigidly subscribe to these; they are 100% text based.
