Inspired by the concept of composting that is at the center of the 17th Istanbul Biennial, this workshop will turn our attention to the life below and above the ground as we look into the cycle of energy and nutrition. With the help of materials such as a sponge, felt and opaque watercolors, we reproduce the endless cycle of plants-bacteria-worms and other earth creatures on our drawing paper. Our imaginations are stimulated as we look at nature and all the aspects of it that we are a part of from a different perspective.

Jean-Michel Basquiat Look At Me!

Jean-Michel Basquiat Look At Me!

The exhibition “Look At Me! Portraits and Other Fictions from the ”la Caixa” Contemporary Art Collection” examined portraiture, one of the oldest artistic genres, through a significant number of works of our times. Paintings, photographs, sculptures and videos shaped a labyrinth of gazes that invite spectators to reflect themselves in the social mirror of portraits.

“The portrait tells us that there is an inner and an outer dimension of the human condition; it provides—or should provide—information about both the physical and psychological character of an individual.”
