Collective Metaverse Design

Pera Kids
Ages 7-12

  • December 28, 2024 / 13:30

Inspired by In Search of Vera Molnár, participants first create tiny models using dough and cardboard to design their ‘paper universe’. Then, they build their meta-universes using LIDAR technology, which enables three-dimensional modeling of an object or surface with a laser, and the Unreal Engine game engine.

Note: At the end of the workshop, the outputs of this collectively produced universe will be shared with the participants and a unique link to the universe will be provided.

Instructor: OyunMu
Capacity: 8 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 300 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

About OyunMu
Founded by architect Merih Bengisu Yiğit, OyunMu is a collective focused on creating game-based projects with a team of ten people from different disciplines. Organising workshops, interviews and publications for both adults and children, OyunMu interprets games from the perspective of art, architecture and communication. The concept of ‘play’ is always at the centre of their projects, which they carry out within the scope of a sustainable development plan. The purpose behind the OyunMu collective's focus on games is to highlight the potential of games to play a formative role in cultural practices and trigger social change, while also focusing on their educational, creative, entertaining, relaxing and socialising possibilities.

Wondrous Cures in Constantinople

The shrines that created the glory of Constantinople through their lavish beauty were also repositories of precious relics and thus sources of healing.

Demons, Symbols, and the Cosmos

Beliefs surrounding illness and healing in Byzantium stem from the myths, astrology, and magic practiced around the Mediterranean by Jews, Egyptians, Mesopotamians, and Greeks.

The Greek god Apollo and his son Asklepios presided over the realm of medicine and healing. Apollo was also the god of light and sun, whose solar symbolism and association with medicine would become linked to Christ the Physician, and the resurrected.
