In the workshop that originates from the multi-layered conceptual framework of PƎRⱯ Reverse, participants first tour the exhibition. Then, while thinking about memory, they apply the materials, objects, and negatives they created about the city on different surfaces. In the workshop conducted by Elçin Acun and Mert Çağıl Türkay, the cyanotype printing technique (also called blueprint) is used.
Note: A file containing preliminary information about the cyanotype printing technique and the objects they may choose to bring with them will be sent to the participants via email.
Instructor: Elçin Acun, Mert Çağıl Türkay
Capacity: 10 people

About Mert Çağıl Türkay
Born in 1987 in Istanbul, Mert Çağıl Türkay completed his undergraduate, graduate and artistic proficiency education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Photography. He has participated in many national and international exhibitions and workshops such as "International Print Triennial / Interfaces", "Realm- Eyes On / Monat der fotografie Wien", "Mamut Art Project", "TÜYAP Art Fair", "Aspects of Balkan Photography". He produces photography, alternative photo printing techniques, installation and video projects. He uses alternative photographic printing techniques to convey contemporary and avant-garde images that emerge emotionally and symbolically through the manipulation of tonality, texture, materials and details. In his works, the emphasis on queer theory and gender, the body-power relationship and the use of the body for protest are mostly seen.
Berggren acquires the techniques of photography in Berlin and holds different jobs in various European cities before arriving in İstanbul. Initially en route to Marseille, he disembarks from his ship in 1866 and settles in İstanbul, where he is to spend the rest of his life.
Following the opening of his studio, “El Chark Societe Photographic,” on Beyoğlu’s Postacılar Caddesi in 1857, the Levantine-descent Pascal Sébah moves to yet another studio next to the Russian Embassy in 1860 with a Frenchman named A. Laroche, who, apart from having worked in Paris previously, is also quite familiar with photographic techniques.
He had imagined the court room as a big place. It wasn’t. It was about the size of his living room, with an elevation at one end, with a dais on it. The judges and the attorneys sat there. Below it was an old wooden rail, worn out in some places. That was his place. There was another seat for his lawyer. At the back, about 20 or 30 chairs were stowed out for the non-existent crowd.
