Our inspiration is the project by Lamia Joreige, in which the artist combines materials from the archives with elements of fiction to study the relationship between personal and collective memory, merging real history gathered from the archives with an imaginary record. In this workshop, we imagine that we are historians or an artist like Joreige, exploring the archives, and bring together the photographs we find at the archives of the Istanbul Research Institute and the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum Collections with our own drawings and texts, creating our own imaginary heroes who will challenge the epic historical narratives, as we present our own version of history using the technique of collage.

A Photographer’s Biography Pascal Sebah

A Photographer’s Biography Pascal Sebah

Laroche, who, apart from having worked in Paris previously, is also quite familiar with photographic techniques.

He had imagined the court room as a big place. It wasn’t. It was about the size of his living room, with an elevation at one end, with a dais on it. The judges and the attorneys sat there. Below it was an old wooden rail, worn out in some places. That was his place. There was another seat for his lawyer. At the back, about 20 or 30 chairs were stowed out for the non-existent crowd.

It was a quiet night in the dessert. Even the mice weren’t around. A few LEDs blinked in the dark, and the sound of a fan filled the infinite void. The conversation cutting the silence seemed to go nowhere.
