Instructor: Mor Çatı Women's Shelter Foundation
Capacity: 20 people
Duration: 2 hours

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).
The event is free of charge, reservation is required.

About Mor Çatı
Mor Çatı Women's Shelter Foundation was founded in 1990 by feminists to combat violence against women. At Mor Çatı, the fight against male violence is carried out based on feminist methods and the aim is to enable women to establish a life in free and equal conditions, free from gender-based discrimination and male violence. It is believed that male violence is caused by inequalities between men and women in society and that it is necessary to fight against inequalities by strengthening women's solidarity. For this purpose, women's empowering social work is carried out in the solidarity centre and shelter. In addition to establishing one-to-one solidarity with women, the implementation of national and international conventions, laws and regulations to combat violence and ensure gender equality are monitored, reported and recommendations on necessary policies are presented to decision-makers. Workshops are held with women's organisations, NGOs, bar associations and municipalities working in the field of violence to share knowledge and experience in the field. In solidarity with national and international women's organisations, campaigns and actions are carried out to fight against patriarchy and for women to build free and independent lives.

Paula Rego in Istanbul!

Paula Rego in Istanbul!

We, by which I mean some of my classmates and I, knew about Paula Rego. I’ll have to admit, I didn’t know where Rego was from or even where in Europe Portugal was. I thought she was English. Let me tell you how I first heard the very un-English sounding name “Paula Rego”

Fluid Rego

Fluid Rego

While Paula Rego belatedly was recognised as one of the leading feminist pioneers of her age, little has been written about her exploration of fluid sexuality. Indeed the current of sado-masochism in her drawings and paintings, has tended to encourage an understanding as a classic clash between the patriarchy and exploited women.
