  • November 23, 2024 / 10:30

Children who visit Calculations and Coincidences with a guided tour are inspired by the colorful works in the exhibition. They wet coffee filters and paint them with felt-tip pens, creating coincidental patterns with the combination of different colors. The children then stick the filters, which dry and turn into different flowers, onto cardboards and finalise their work by painting around them as they wish.

Capacity: 12 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 250 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

Wondrous Cures in Constantinople

Wondrous Cures in Constantinople

Demons, Symbols, and the Cosmos

Beliefs surrounding illness and healing in Byzantium stem from the myths, astrology, and magic practiced around the Mediterranean by Jews, Egyptians, Mesopotamians, and Greeks.

The Greek god Apollo and his son Asklepios presided over the realm of medicine and healing. Apollo was also the god of light and sun, whose solar symbolism and association with medicine would become linked to Christ the Physician, and the resurrected.
