The discovery of Göbeklitepe seems to change a scientific knowledge that we have accepted as accurate until today. According to this, during the hunter-gatherer period, settled life may have started. The workshop invites children to think about the accuracy of scientific knowledge through this mysterious archaeological site. Photographer Isabel Muñoz's works in the exhibition, which allow us to see Göbeklitepe, Karahantepe and Sayburç up close, illuminate the areas of this discussion that may be overlooked or remain in the dark.

Instructor: Özge Özdemir
Capacity: 15 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 150 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

The Ottoman Way of Serving Coffee

The Ottoman Way of Serving Coffee

Coffee was served with much splendor at the harems of the Ottoman palace and mansions. First, sweets (usually jam) was served on silverware, followed by coffee serving. The coffee jug would be placed in a sitil (brazier), which had three chains on its sides for carrying, had cinders in the middle, and was made of tombac, silver or brass. The sitil had a satin or silk cover embroidered with silver thread, tinsel, sequin or even pearls and diamonds.
