Workshop for Teachers | Hidden Stories in Broken Pieces: Kintsugi

Teachers

  • November 15, 2023 / 15:00

Teachers visit the Souvenirs of the Future exhibition inspired by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation's Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics Collection. Upon experiencing the exhibition, which establishes a connection between memory and future imaginings through contemporary artworks, teachers unleash their creativity, decorating and transforming broken ceramic and marble pieces. They learn about the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, which involves accepting, embracing, and interpreting imperfections with a new perspective, and explore ways to convey this philosophy to their students.

Instructor: Ayça Öztürk, Ayşe Topsöğüt
Capacity: 8 people
Duration: 90 minutes
Fee per workshop: 50 TL

The event will take place at the Pera Museum (face-to-face).

Giacometti in Paris

Giacometti in Paris

The second part of exhibition illustrates Alberto Giacometti’s relations with Post-Cubist artists and the Surrealist movement between 1922 and 1935, one of the important sculptures series he created during his first years in Paris, and the critical role he played in the art scene of the period.

Giacometti worked nonstop on his sculptures, either from nature or from memory, trying to capture the universal facial expressions.

Giacometti was selected for three important retrospectives at the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery in London and the Louisiana Museum of Art in Denmark, all of which were a great success.
