Fear is not merely a source of terror, it is a lens that reveals human nature's hidden, shadowy depths. The film program presents two unsettling coming-of-age tales in which everyday existence spirals into nightmarish realms and repressed emotions erupt in the most horrifying and unexpected ways.
As part of a retrospective, the complete works of renowned experimental filmmakers Peter Tscherkassky and Eve Heller will be screened for the first time in Turkey. After the screenings, the directors will engage with the Istanbulites in the post-screening discussions, marking their first encounter with the audience.
The film program, which progresses along a route extending from Istanbul to Tokyo, Taipei, Marseille, and Oslo, asks a universal question while exploring the permanent and inevitable roles of our cities: Is it possible to form genuine connections amidst crowds?
In Pursuit of Lost Time follows the stories of characters who trace the memories they lived in the past or believe they lived. These memories sometimes emerge in a museum's corridors overflowing with remnants of passionate love and sometimes at unexpected stops on long journeys.
