Pera Film, in collaboration with the Bosnia Sancak Academic Culture and History Foundation, presents a selection of five films by the acclaimed Bosnian filmmaker Pjer Žalica, which will take place from November 4th to 19th.
Time sometimes doesn't just flow; it leaves deep wounds. There are no descriptions or prescriptions for both time and wounds. They are immeasurable. Traces of Time: Pjer Žalica focuses on the works of an artist who explores the cinematic representations of these scars, following the searing effects of war in a specific landscape and the traces of past wounds in today's world.
The films that will be screened at the Pera Museum Auditorium from November 4th to 19th include Fuse, which follows the story of a town struggling to get back on its feet after the Bosnian War upon receiving news of a visit from U.S. President Bill Clinton. Days and Hours centres on a man who unwittingly revisits the painful and unforgettable memories of his fractured family. Focus Grandmother takes us back to the fateful year of 1992 when millions of lives were forever changed as a family reunited, nearly losing their grandmother. May Labor Day narrates the story of Armin, who confronts a shocking truth upon returning to Bosnia after years of working in Germany. The Perfect Circle, penned by Pjer Zalica, weaves the tale of a poet whose path crosses with two siblings who survived the massacre in their village while trying to save their family from the ravages of war.
Pjer Žalica, the film program’s centrepiece, will engage with the audience on Saturday, November 18th, following the screening of May Labor Day. The discussion, moderated by film critic Alin Taşçıyan, will be held at the Pera Museum Auditorium.
In conjunction with the Pera Film program, Bosnian musicians Adis Sirbubalo and Zanin Berbić will perform a concert at the Pera Museum on Tuesday, November 7th.
This program’s screenings are free admission. Drop in, no reservations. As per legal regulations, all our screenings are restricted to persons over 18 years of age unless stated otherwise.

Henryk Weyssenhoff, author of landscapes, prints, and illustrations, devoted much of his creative energies to realistic vistas of Belorussia, Lithuania, and Samogitia. A descendant of an ancient noble family which moved east to the newly Polonised Inflanty in the 17th century, the young Henryk was raised to cherish Polish national traditions.
