From Konstantiniyye to Istanbul — Photographs of the Rumeli Shore of the Bosphorus from the mid-19^th to the 20^th century is comprised of works by photography masters who practiced their art in Istanbul from the end of the 19th to the early years of the 20^th century. The unique selection from The Suna and İnan Kıraç Collection of Istanbul Photographs reveal the magnificent structures, the daily life and the intriguing personalities of a past Istanbul.

The walls of Rotterdam’s Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen are adorned with three world-famous oil paintings of Rembrandt: The Portrait of Aletta Adriaensdochter, The Concord of the State and Titus at His Desk.

For the artist, there is a particularly productive relationship between the hand and the object. The hand must wield the brush masterfully; its skill must predominate when shaping the mass of clay.

Sultan Mehmed IV, remembered as Mehmed the Hunter owing to his passion for hunting, departed for Edirne, in 1657 on a hunting expedition. 

Where does the French artistic scene stand as regards to the last fifteen years? What are its eminent character traits? What are its dominant trends? Were there notable changes that had transformed its features? These are some of the questions brought into play by this idea of sketching a “profile” and not a “panorama” of its present status.

Art history, one of the liveliest and most exciting branches of knowledge of our times, emphasizes the need to continually re-examine, re-evaluate and re-interpret its primary ingredient - art works of the past.

The exhibition, curated by Robert Delpire, was organized in collaboration with Pera Museum, Magnum Photos and Fondation Henri Cartier Bresson and introduced the great master of the 20^th century to visitors with more than a hundred of his photographs.
