Made by the Cambodian-born Rithy Pahn, who has lived in Paris since he was 15, Land of the Wandering Souls documents the efforts of Cambodian laborers to lay Southeast Asia's first fiber-optic cable across their country. Pithy made his documentary debut with the 1993 Rice People; Land of the Wandering Souls was shown at the 2000 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Among the most interesting themes in the oeuvre of Prassinos are cypresses, trees, and Turkish landscapes. The cypress woods in Üsküdar he saw every time he stepped out on the terrace of their house in İstanbul or the trees in Petits Champs must have been strong images of childhood for Prassinos.
