In present-day Athens, a city dominated by Americanized behaviors and life-styles, a young man aged about 20 lives with his widowed mother in one of the countless nondescript apartments lost in the great concrete jungle of the city. He wants to study astronomy at the University, and spends most of his time scrutinizing the stars and the surrounding world through an ancient telescope. On the other side of the wide avenue lives Stella with her husband and daughter. Trapped in the dull routine of a meaningless marriage devoid of joy or pleasure, she feels her youth slipping away and grey middle-age creeping up on her. Haris falls in love with her, but what are the prospects for love in this city?

Marcel Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel

Marcel Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel

In 1998 Ben Jakober and Yannick Vu collaborated on an obvious remake of Marcel Duchamp’s Roue de Bicyclette, his first “readymade” object. Duchamp combined a bicycle wheel, a fork and a stool to create a machine which served no purpose, subverting accepted norms of art.

Inspired by its Anatolian Weights and Measures Collection, Pera Museum presents a contemporary video installation titled For All the Time, for All the Sad Stones at the gallery that hosts the Collection. The installation by the artist Nicola Lorini takes its starting point from recent events, in particular the calculation of the hypothetical mass of the Internet and the weight lost by the model of the kilogram and its consequent redefinition, and traces a non-linear voyage through the Collection.
