“In her documentary film, Kurdish director Shilan follows the lives of Yazidi refugee girls who survived the Sinjar massacre and lived in a Turkish camp five years ago. As the girls scatter across Europe, Shilan tells a powerful story of resilience and survival, exploring the rich history of the Kurds and shedding light on the ongoing displacement of the Yazidi community.” ISIS attacked the Yezidi people because of their religion and beliefs in 2014. At least 300,000 out of the 500,000-population fled to the Sinjar Mountains.

Coffee was served with much splendor at the harems of the Ottoman palace and mansions. First, sweets (usually jam) was served on silverware, followed by coffee serving. The coffee jug would be placed in a sitil (brazier), which had three chains on its sides for carrying, had cinders in the middle, and was made of tombac, silver or brass. The sitil had a satin or silk cover embroidered with silver thread, tinsel, sequin or even pearls and diamonds.
