Zingal Incorporated Company went into action in Ayancık – a district of Sinop city – as one of the first foreign-invested companies in 1929. Especially Belgium, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, and many other European countries acted a part in its activities. In its foundation years, the factory was not only the biggest sawmill in Turkey but also the second biggest one in Europe. The sawmill was nationalized in 1945 and carried on its actions as Ayancık State Sawmill till 1994. It was privatized and finally stopped its actions in 2006. By the year 2011, all of its machines were sold to the junkman, and the sawmill’s adventure ended.
Starting with the Zingal company, Ayancık State Sawmill tells the story of how a city affects its culture by the people of the last generation that have been alive to this date.
Coffee was served with much splendor at the harems of the Ottoman palace and mansions. First, sweets (usually jam) was served on silverware, followed by coffee serving. The coffee jug would be placed in a sitil (brazier), which had three chains on its sides for carrying, had cinders in the middle, and was made of tombac, silver or brass. The sitil had a satin or silk cover embroidered with silver thread, tinsel, sequin or even pearls and diamonds.
